Art Imperative

GCDA has committed to funding and facilitating 1,000 art interventions in and around the Live/Work District over the next 10 years. Many of these artworks will be on, around, and inside the new buildings; others will occur in public spaces.

Many will be permanent – murals, sculptures, gates, wall art – while others will be ephemeral experiences like theater, dance, and circus performances. The Art Imperative will embrace resident participation. Dozens of artists and curators from around the corner and around the globe will help us to keep creative expression at the forefront and at the heart of our work.

As part of the Art Imperative, we are gathering local artists to have their skills represented in the Live/Work District. Equinox Studios artisans and Georgetown Artists are encouraged to join us in representing the rich history of arts in Georgetown.

We also have opportunities for artisans and local businesses to bid on jobs with our developer partners as we begin construction on the Georgetown Live/Work District.
